The publications and organizations listed below provide information about some of the economic, ecological, and recreational assets of the Rivanna watershed.

  1. The Rivanna Rambler — archive of local journalist Leslie Middleton’s informative, evocative weekly radio broadcasts about the Rivanna basin.
  2. Biological Resources and Biodiversity — a chapter of Albemarle County’s Comprehensive Plan.
  3. Mr. Jefferson’s River-The Rivanna. Minnie Lee McGehee and William E. Trout, III. 2001. The Fluvanna County Historical Society.
  4. Partners—Rivanna watershed and related resource management information is available through the StreamWatch partners
  5. Rivanna Regional Stormwater Partnership — Stormwater is the water that runs off of roads, parking lots, yards, and rooftops during and after a rain storm. Stormwater, when not properly managed, can cause flooding, stream channel erosion, pollution to streams, and property damage.
  6. Rivanna River Basin Project — This year-long, multi-stakeholder research and planning effort produced the 1988 State of the Basin report.
  7. Rivanna Trails Foundation — a must for walkers and hikers.
  8. South Fork Rivanna Reservoir and Watershed — This report reviews the history of the reservoir and its management, with an eye toward updating watershed management planning to protect water resources.
