Winter potluck…

When: Sunday February 21, 3pm – 6pm

What:

  • Reconnect with your favorite volunteers as we nibble fingerfoods and reminisce about stream sampling
  • Reconnect with your favorite bugs as we watch a 35 minute video, Bugs of the Underworld. Don’t miss this incredible look into the lives and habits of macroinvertebrates, with unique underwater footage. Really, Don’t miss it! Here is a preview.

Where: the home of Bob and Pat Henricks: 832 Fieldhaven Dr Charlottesville, VA, 22903.

  • Directions: From Cville, go south on 5th St Extended. After passing I-64, it will become Old Lynchburg Road (Rt 631). Turn right on Sunset Ave Ext (Rt 781). At the stop sign, continue straight on Sunset Ave Ext. Turn left on Redfields Road. Turn right on Hayrake Lane and right again onto Fieldhaven Drive. #832 is on the left side of the circle.

What to bring: A fingerfood dish or drink to share + Your own plate, cup, napkin and silverware

Carpool challenge: Anyone who carpools to the potluck will receive a special prize

Bob’s Bug Facts…

Lunged snails (e.g. Physids, Planorbids, Limpets) are hermaphroditic. Gilled snails (Pleurocerids, Hydrobiids, etc.) are either male or female. Still, even lunged snails must have physical contact with a mate for conception to occur.
